Dear Parent/Carers,
East Brisbane State School operates a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) in addition to a reduced booklist. This letter contains important information about the fees and inclusions for the SRS. It is important to note that the SRS is separate to the Booklist for individual student consumables.
What is provided by the Queensland Government?
The Queensland Government supports children’s education by funding instruction (teachers), facilities (school grounds, building and internet) and administration (staff to run the school). Funding for schools does not extend to individual student resources such as text books, equipment for personal use and many other items consumed by students in the classroom. The SRS assists both parents and schools in sourcing these items.
The SRS is designed to save parents money through the school’s ability to bulk purchase. For this reason, participation in the SRS offers a convenient way for parents to source the items that their child needs for school, and ensures that all students have access to the same standard of resources.
The types of resources that will be included are:
A4 paper and printing costs
Curriculum consumables such as paints, cardboard, Science materials
Text books (Handwriting and Mental Maths); and
All online learning platforms (such as Mathletics and Reading Eggs)
A table is provided on the next page of the items included in this year’s fee.
The Fee
The East Brisbane State School SRS is a fee to purchase resources for each individual student for the year.
The 2025 Fee will be $84.00 per child.
SRS Participation, (please read carefully)
- Parents are required to complete and return the SRS Participation Agreement Form upon enrolment or if already enrolled when joining the scheme for the first time. The school has obtained forms from those already enrolled and will contact you otherwise.
- A parent’s participation or non-participation in the scheme will continue as per their previously completed form.
- A parent can opt in or out of the scheme in subsequent years by completing another form.
- If you are not satisfied that the SRS fee represents good value for money based on the inclusions listed in the attached table, you may choose not to participate.
- If no participation form is received the school will take the view that the parent has chosen to opt out of the SRS.
- If you choose not to participate, you will be provided with a detailed list of resources that you will need to provide for your child/ren.
- The parent is then required to provide the educational resources listed for their child by the start of the school year.
Release of Resources
Student Resources will not be distributed to students until the full or first payment has been paid to the school.
Payment Arrangement
Invoices will be issued in Term 1, 2025 to all students with completed forms, with strictly 30 days for payment, unless a term payment plan is negotiated.
Any unpaid invoices, will be managed according to the department’s Debt Management Procedure and may result in the student being excluded from the scheme and/or from participating in non-curricular activities until payment is made (http://ppr.det.qld.gov.au/corp/finance/accounts/Procedure%20Attachments/debt-management/debt-management.pdf).
Payment Method
SRS payments can be made by our preferred method of payment, BPOINT.
An SRS invoice sent to the usual school account holder for your family will contain a live link at the bottom left of the document. Clicking on the link will open a prefilled BPOINT payment window.
The invoice payment information also provides a phone number to make the payment over the phone with your credit or debit card.
Alternatively, EFTPOS is available at the office.
Financial Difficulties
If you would like to participate in the scheme but are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact Lynne Phillips, our Business Manager (lphil93@eq.edu.au), to arrange a confidential meeting to discuss options.
All students who attend East Brisbane State School will have access to the core curriculum that is being taught in class regardless of SRS payment; however, student use of the items below will be restricted if they have not bought into the SRS.
In addition to the online learning platforms listed above, the school will purchase and provide access to Inquisitive, an eBook Library and The Writers Toolbox.
Should you have any questions relating to this scheme, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
Kind regards
Sam Duffy
Principal
