Dear Parent/Carers,

From 2024, East Brisbane State School will be operating a Student Resource Scheme in addition to a reduced booklist. This letter contains important information about the fees and inclusions for the SRS.

What is provided by the Queensland Government?

The Queensland Government supports children's education by funding instruction (teachers), facilities (school grounds, building and internet) and administration (staff to run the school). Funding for schools does not extend to individual student resources such as text books, equipment for personal use and many other items consumed by students in the classroom. The SRS assists both parents and schools in sourcing these items.

The school can purchase resources at a lower rate due to its bulk buying power. For this reason, participation in the SRS offers a convenient way for parents to source the items that their child needs for school, and ensures that all students have access to the same standard of resources.

The types of resources that will be included are:

  • A4 paper and printing costs
  • Curriculum consumables such as paints, cardboard, Science materials
  • Text books (Handwriting and Mental Maths); and
All online learning platforms (such as Mathletics and Reading Eggs)

The Fee

The East Brisbane State School SRS is an all-inclusive fee for each individual student for resources for the year. If you are not satisfied that the SRS fee represents good value for money based on the inclusion listed in the attached table, you may choose not to participate. If you choose not to participate, you will be provided with a detailed list of resources that you will need to provide for your child/ren.
The 2024 Fee will be $84 per child with payment to be received by Friday 23 February.
All students must return the SRS Participation Agreement form (each child needs to have an individual form) signed by the parent. Invoices will be issued once this form has been returned to the school office.

Release of Resources

Student Resources will not be distributed to students until the full or first payment has been paid to the school. Any unpaid invoices will be managed according to the department's Debt Management Procedure and may result in the student being excluded form the scheme and/or from participating in extra-curricular activities.

Financial Difficulties

If you would like to participate in the scheme but are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact Lynne Phillips our Business Manager (lphil93@eq.edu.au) to arrange a confidential meeting to discuss options.

The Student Resource Scheme (SRS) is designed to save parents money through the school's ability to bulk purchase. If parents choose NOT to pay the SRS, then they are expected to provide the school with the items listed below as well as the limited items on the school's booklists.

All students who attend East Brisbane State School will have access to the core curriculum that is being taught in class regardless of SRS payment; however, student use of the items below will be restricted if they have not bought into the SRS.
